Visitor Information
In order to maintain our patients’ security, safety and comfort, we ask all visitors to:
- Obtain a visitor’s pass at the Information Desk, with a limit of two visitors at any one time. Visitor passes are valid only for the date and area displayed and must be worn at all times while inside the hospital. Please return your visitor’s pass to the Information Desk when leaving the facility.
- Check with the patient’s nurse for special restrictions.
- Keep noise to a minimum, to avoid disrupting other patients.
- Limit visiting to the patient’s room.
- Refrain from smoking anywhere in the hospital. It is a violation of the Smoke-free Illinois Act.
Visiting Hours
Because rest is vital for recovery, we have established visiting schedules. The visiting hours at Kindred Hospital Chicago - North are as follows:
Medical Surgical Units and Special Care Unit (SCU)
Visiting hours are daily from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm. Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two at a time in the patient room.
All other visitors must wait in the main lobby until other visitors leave. Visitors may be asked to wait outside the patient’s room while care is being provided.
Behavioral Health Unit
Visitors 18 and older are welcome to visit. Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two at a time in the patient room. Visiting hours on our mental health unit are limited to the following times:
- Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
- Sundays and Holidays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Visiting with Children
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted on the units, however they are welcome to wait in common or family waiting areas. Children must be supervised at all times in order to ensure their safety and the safety of our patients.
Infection Control
We ask that all visitors observe general hygiene practices when entering and leaving patient rooms. This includes disinfecting hands using the sanitizer dispensers conveniently placed around the hospital.
For visitors of patients who are under special infection-control precautions or isolation, please read the isolation signs, check with the patient’s nurse, and make sure you understand and cooperate with the required precautions.
Please refrain from visiting if you have a cough, runny nose and/or congestion, sore throat, body aches, unusual weakness or tiredness, fever, rash, open sores, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or exposure to any communicable diseases such as chicken pox, measles or mumps.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria is located on the ground level of the hospital and is open daily to all visitors and guests.
- Breakfast is served Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Complimentary coffee and tea are available throughout the day.
ATM
For your convenience, an ATM is located on the ground level near the elevators.
Vending Machines
Vending machines are available at all times in the family waiting area located on the first floor.
Chapel
The chapel is located on the ground level and is available to all of our guests and staff as a quiet place for prayer, meditation and reflection.
Parking
Free parking is available in the south and east lots on Montrose Avenue. Security escorts are available on request. Handicapped parking spaces are available at both lots. To exit the parking lots, visitors will need to obtain a parking token from the front desk. Additional street parking is also available.
Family Concerns
Family members may request to meet with clinical staff to discuss their loved one’s current condition and progress and to answer questions. For general concerns, contact (773) 279-2829. To schedule a patient conference, call (773) 267-2622 and ask to speak with case management.
Post-Hospital Care
Once a physician determines that your loved one no longer requires the specialized services of our hospital, they will work with case management and nursing staff to create a plan for discharge. Case management staff will assist in coordinating any medical service needs or transfer upon discharge.
